Reach Your Goals.

Hello beautiful people. I went to a youth adult ministry yesterday (mind you, I haven’t been to church and quite a while). And there were only 7 of us there, so we decided to have an intimate conversation. We talked about prayer, travels and aspirations. All good things. However there was one message that stuck out to me the most. As we were conversing about our goals and the way we differ from society. There was one thing that has helped most of us reach former goals and dreams. And that is writing. There was one girl that talked about traveling and we asked her “well where do you want to go?” LOL This girl pulled out a journal full of notes and research about the different countries she plans to go to and how she was going to get there. That’s when we all realized how important writing your dreams, visions and goals down really are.

Habakkuk 2:2

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Think about it. How many times have you thought about an amazing idea ( I mean an idea that really pulled a chord in you), but then forgot it? Sometimes that feeling, that chord that is struck, is a message from God. You never want to lose that. Write it down.  Today, as I was looking for a place to write down my short and long term goals I came across my old journal. Out of extreme curiosity you know I had to read it. I wrote letters to God, praying for great things to come to pass. And you know what, they happened with out me even realizing it. So you see there is power with what you write, even if your like me and come back to it years later. So I encourage you today to write down you goals and visions and make a plan for your life… Don’t be afraid to ask God for what you want, because believe me He got you. That’s our daddy!

So write down your goals. You want to lose weight? Write down your goal weight. You want to eat right? Create a clean eating chart. Shoot write down what you eat.  Want to get toned? Write out a plan to do just that! You can do it. Just do it! But seriously any vision you have for your life, write it down, make a plan and do it! This may be your time, and you won’t want to miss it. Sure it might come back around, by why wait if it’s meant for you now?

My Mother and Me

That’s God

Senior problems. The middle of the semester is approaching and it’s about that time to prepare for graduation. Then it’s the “real world” with “real jobs”. As you can imagine this can be a very stressful time. You’re almost to that graduation date, but the classes seem a little bit harder, and the thought of what comes next is scary. Some people know exactly what they want to do when they leave school, and then there are others, like me, who kind of know what their next step is, but don’t know exactly how to make it. All you really know is that you want to be happy. That’s me, I want to be happy doing something I love. But sometimes it’s hard to do that and be comfortable financially. So the worrying starts. I have to keep my grades up. I need to find a good job. I want to be happy. I want to make good money. The list goes on and on. Just stop and breathe. I was talking to my mom today as she was paying my tuition. Earlier she was worried about the funds necessary for the cost, until she looked into her account and saw that there was more money than she expected. She said “I didn’t even know where it came from.”  My mom has a good job and a beautiful spirit. I told her today “I want to get where you are one day”. She replied “that’s God”. She didn’t say “that’s hard work”, “it takes time” or “you can do it.” Simply put, “that’s God”. That’s when I realized that it doesn’t matter what I choose to do. As long as I keep God first in my life I know he will fulfill all of my needs. I will keep working hard on my dreams and I know that God will grant me the desires of my heart. So I say this to you. Don’t worry so much, because God got you. Like I said in the last post this healthy journey is about being healthy mentally, spiritually, and emotionally as well.

Faith moves God.

I  will be starting my senior year at Howard University next week. This is  a bittersweet feeling, I know it’s time to really bring it. I’ve been applying for internship after internship this Summer, and today I just felt stressed, anxious, and worried about getting one. My lovely mother saw the doubt in my eyes and like any great mother would do, laid that sweet motherly knowledge on me.

She told me do not be anxious, stress, or worry. Those are feelings that show lack of faith in God. Now I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, but sometimes these emotions overwhelm me.

She told me the Bible says “be anxious for nothing”.. Basically God got your back! God will not hold nothing good back for his children. If there is a door he doesn’t allow to be open, there is probably something better down the road.

My mother worked at IBM for 25 years and was laid off. She had no problem receiving her next job, but the jobs she “saw herself in” she never got. After countless rejections she eventually she stopped worrying about getting that “perfect” job. She knew that God had her. Once all the worry was gone God’s favor rushed upon her. Now she’s working at Chevron as a business analyst.  She is very happy.

I wrote this to say that God moves by your faith in Him, not fear.

Totally not health related, but it’s good for your soul.
