Healthy Sweet Potato Fries

I made some sweet potato fries randomly the other day. I was experimenting with some spices and made the best sweet potato fries I ever made! I posted a  recipe a while back but this recipe right here is by far the best! Here it is!fries

Ingredients:

3 Large Sweet Potatoes    Olive Oil   Cayenne Pepper

Paprika    Sea Salt   Black Pepper

IMG_4320Instructions: Preheat the oven at 400 degrees. While the oven is heating up, cut the fries into a  fry like shape. Make sure they are all about the same size so that they will bake at the same rate (also make sure they are not too thick or they might not bake through fully.) Once they are all cut into their fry like shape, place them all into a bowl. Then drizzle about 4 tablespoons of olive oil on the slices until they are fully glossed with the oil. Then add the sea salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper and paprika to taste. Toss around the fries so that the seasoning is spread evenly on each fry. Spray your pans with olive oil and the place the fries on the pan side by side, making sure they don’t overlap. Next you’ll put the fries in the oven and let them bake for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes are up you’ll take the pan of fries out the oven and then flip them. Once flipped leave them in for 10 to 15 more minutes. Finally take them out, let them cool and eat!

Hope you like.

Berry Oatmeal Crumble

Howdy, so I have a treat for y’all (literally). I don’t know about you but breakfast can get a little boring from time to time. Especially if you’re like me and try to stay away from animal products. I saw this recipe on Deliciously Ella and made it into my own! Her site is absolutely awesome, definitely check it out! I named this dish the Berry Oatmeal Crumble simply because it taste a bit like a berry pie (but not quite.) OK here goes nothing.

 bb

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Oatmeal    1/3 Blueberries     1/4 Strawberries

1/4 Almond Milk   1 1/2 Ripe Bananas

1/2 of Chopped Dates (or raisins)

2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon     Handful of Walnuts

Directions:

Preheat Oven to 350

Pour oatmeal in a bowl then pour fresh boiling water into bowl covering the oatmeal. As your waiting for the oatmeal to absorb the water completely, go ahead and cut up your bananas, slice up your dates and crush your walnuts.

Once the oatmeal absorbs the water completely throw in your the remaining ingredients and mix.

Grease your pan and pour in your oatmeal berry crumble mix. If you want to make it look pretty slice up some banana slices and decorate!

Put your pan in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes on 350. Then take it out and let it cool for 20 to 30 minutes so it can harden (this is important.) AND that’s it easy peasy. Eat up my loves.

Infused Water Recipes

I recently started infusing fruits, herbs and veggies into my water. I looked up some recipes and tried about 6 or 7 of them. They are refreshing, but not all of them were delicious. So I decided to share 3 of my favorite infused water recipes with you all. But first check out some of the awesome benefits infused water has below.

3 Ingredient Banana Bread

Yup, it’s true.

Yes, I’ve got a recipe for you.

Did I mention it’s vegan too?

Yup this is certainly a dream come true.

IMG_1450

OK OK, enough of the poetry (it was fun though). Here’s a easy banana bread recipe. It’ll be quick.

You need:

Three ripe bananas, 2 cups of oat flour, and one cup of plant based milk.

Procedure:

Add all the above ingredients and stir until there is a smooth consistency.

Pour mixture into a greased pan and bake.

I put the oven on bake at 180 for 30 minutes, but it wasn’t done so I put it on 360 for 10 more minutes, then back to `180 for 15 minutes. Needless to say, I was experimenting. Soooo… yeah sorry. However, after leaving it out to cool for 30 minutes it was even more delish!

I also added:

honey   walnuts   cinnamon

vanilla extract        nutmeg

Just incase you wanted to get fancy with it.

See, simple.

What is Intuitive Eating?

INTUTIVE

Today I  was so SO dang hungry. I was literally craving everything from pizza to a giant salad. But the thing is, I no longer crave foods that don’t benefit my body. Yes, I wanted to eat a whole box of pizza! However that pizza would have to have 100 % whole wheat crust, light tomato sauce, skim mozzarella cheese topped with lots and lots of veggies! I love it. Eating healthy unprocessed foods really isn’t that hard. Once you get the hang of it, you stop craving those processed fatty foods that simply do nothing to nourish the precious body your spirit’s living in. But enough about my huge appetite. Let’s talk about intuitive eating.

So I’ve done everything from counting calories to iifym (that lasted one day lol). And to be honest counting my calories did help me lose weight (including my butt and boobs, aint nobody got time for that!). Now everyone is different, but for me counting calories wasn’t healthy for my body or my mind. I was eating far to less and though I didn’t realize it at the time. I simply wasn’t as happy as I am now. Now I eat whatever I dang well please.

Intuitive eating is listening to what your body wants. So I may wake up and feel as if I want something juicy. So i’ll go into my kitchen and fix me up a power juice. A few hours later I may crave something nutty, so i’ll go and grab a handful of almonds and chow down. Basically whatever my body tells me it wants, I try my best to supply it for her. The body knows what it needs to function, so listen. If you do, you’ll realize that your body is seeking nourishment. Lately I’ve been craving a platter full of veggies. Just today I was craving sweet citrusy fruits. I say drink lots of water, stay active and eat whole healthy foods.  Cheers to to a healthy, fit and balanced life.

Side note: Since I’ve been practicing intuitive eating my my body is almost to where I want it to be. However there are other things I’ve implemented in my daily activities that’s help me get closer to my fitness goal.

Intuitiveeating.com Definition: Intuitive eating is an approach that teaches you how to create a healthy relationship with your food, mind, and body–where you ultimately become the expert of your own body.   You learn how to distinguish between physical and emotional feelings, and gain a sense of body wisdom.   It’s also a process of making peace with food—so that you no longer have constant “food worry” thoughts.  It’s knowing that your health and your worth as a person do not change, because you ate a food that you had labeled as “bad” or “fattening”.  Click here for more knowledge.
